Student leaders across schools joined in art-making, storytelling, and intergenerational dialogue as Lewis HS hosted one of the official stops of the Caravan for Disability Freedom and Justice, a national collective of people with disabilities and allies who are driving through over 45 states across America to honor and carry forward the call for disability rights and voting rights. Theater teacher Ashley Promisel's students were invited to work with the John Lewis Leadership Program, run by Deborah March, to create a performance about the changes they would like to see the world make to better support people with disabilities. They also took a series of photos around Key Middle School to highlight barriers to access for those with both visible and invisible disabilities. The performance was wonderfully done and the audience was wowed by what our middle schoolers came up with!
